In 2021, the Wim Crouwel Institute established the first 'Wim Crouwel Chair' at the University of Amsterdam. The chair was part of the Book Studies chair group of the Faculty of Humanities. Between 2021 and 2025, Dr. Alice Twemlow held the position of distinguished professor in this chair.
The Wim Crouwel Institute is currently working on establishing a new Wim Crouwel Chair for the coming years. The chair aims to promote rigorous academic research into the history, theory, and sociology of graphic design, thereby increasing the visibility and relevance of this discipline in the Netherlands and internationally. The Wim Crouwel Institute’s graphic design collection will be used for educational and research purposes within the framework of this chair.
